Finding something that sets your soul on fire is no easy feat. I have been blessed enough to find that. That thing is Photography.
Now, not everyone values Photography the way I do. And to each their own, but I’d like to explain why I think it’s so important. It’s easy to dismiss the arts for so many people, but for me photography is so much more than that.
It brings connection. To connect to a family, to a Mama with a new little one, to show them they’re not alone in this journey is priceless. Photography puts me in the uniques position to get to be a voice for the hard times that no one sees, but also a light to the parts of motherhood that gets overshadowed. But more importantly than that, I get to show the beauty in those times.
Photography is a way to freeze time. It’s so heartbreakingly sweet seeing your babies grow up. I believe that having photos of your kids and family is one of the most priceless gifts. Honestly, I look back on my own daughter’s newborn photos and I remember what it was like for her to be so tiny. Having those memories forever preserved is something that could never be replaced.
For me, photography shows the beauty in the mundane. In our fast paced lives, we are so focused on the things we need to do or the things we want to do that we miss what’s right in front of us! I love being able to see beauty in those small ordinary things, a mother’s hug, a father playing with his kids, these are just a couple things that we don’t always stop and say “wow” about.
Seeing the world through the viewfinder of my camera is something I hope I never grow tired of. I want to show love to the unloved things, I want to show you that your “ordinary” is EXTRORDIAPRY! Photography is infinitely important, and I never want to forget that.
