We all know those super posed, very edited newborn photos. They're beautiful and nearly perfect, but what if you don't want all of that extra stuff? What if you don't want the unnatural poses and the baby in a wrap? Well, let me tell you about lifestyle newborn photos.
An in-home lifestyle newborn session can be a great option for many families. I know, personally, I don't want to leave my home with my newborn, so going to get photos taken was just out of the question. I wanted to stay in my cocoon of newborn bliss. As I had more children I also wanted photos of them with their new sibling as well. Traditional newborn photos just weren't what I was looking for.
After my oldest was born, I really wanted to start doing newborn photography. But, something about posing a tiny baby in all those unnatural poses just didn't sit right with me. So, I began to do some research, and I discovered Lifestyle Newborn Photography.
Lifestyle Newborn Photos are different in a few ways. The first is that there are no backgrounds, or baskets, or teeny tiny props. I don't bring anything but a couple swaddles to most of my newborn session. The second way that they differ is that a good portion of the photos I take are with mom, dad, or siblings holding their new baby. I very much want to capture candid, natural feeling photos, and what's more natural than the family holding their new addition?!
