In todays day and age there are A LOT of Photographers, and finding the “right” one can be a task. How much a Photographer costs should not be the deciding factor on who you decide to have take your Family’s photos, though I completely understand that it is a factor, it should not be the ONLY factor. Having a Photographer that you love and trust is very important. Being able to feel comfortable with the person you’ve chosen to come into your home, in the case of Newborn sessions, is worth so much. I know, it’s a daunting task, but I’m here to help.

First things first, yes, price matters, but it doesn’t matter enough to not love your photographer and in turn not love your photos. I get it, you have a budget, but we all do (or should) and it can be difficult to afford a quality photographer in a pinch. This is why you want to book in advance and NOT at the last minute. By doing this you give yourself time to save up and prepare. I personally open my books 6-12 months in advance for this exact reason. Give yourself some time to pick a photographer, and book with them in advance, this way it’s done.

When picking a photographer, you want to find the “why” behind what they do.

Look at their work, and look at their “about” page on their site. Checking out who your prospective photographer is will help you to find out if you want to work with them. You allow this person to be in some of the most intimate parts of your life, so you should resonate with why they love their craft.

Having beautiful photos is only part of what I would consider a “perfect session.”

The experience of having a photographer that you feel comfortable and relaxed with makes your session so much more enjoyable. Being able to look at your photos and remember what a fun and enjoyable time you had makes them all the more sweet. Now, this may seem silly, but I promise you it isn’t. There is nothing worse than looking at a photo and instead of feeling nostalgic or joy, you remember how stressed and unhappy you were in that moment.

Finding your perfect fit for a photographer is a labor of love.

Beautiful photos start with a beautiful relationship with a photographer you trust. I love getting to know my clients, especially when I get to be a part of the most special times in their lives. I always want to create a relationship with you. I want every part of your session to feel special and enjoyable. You will find your perfect fit, even if it takes some time and effort.
