Golden Hour, this is my favorite time of day for sessions. Golden hour is the hour before the sun sets for the day. Depending on the time of year this can be anywhere from 4:30pm to as late as 8:30pm. For some families this may cause a bit of an issue for little, but let me explain why I still think it’s a good idea.

The simple explanation is this, I LOVE the golden lighting from golden hour. Many people see my photos and love the lighting, well this is something I accomplish by having my sessions at this time of day. The only other tine of day that will. give you this kind of lighting is. the hour AFTER sunrise. I’m not sure about you, but thats a bit early for me.

As a mom, I 100% understand your hesitation to commit to having the kiddos up so late though. I do still like to shoot at almost any time of day. However, many of my clients want that beautiful golden light, and that’s just not something I can replicate at any other time of day.

Let me put your mind at ease for keeping those kiddos up past bedtime. Many kids are completely fine with the time being so late, and they act wonderfully! If you have a child that tends to be very sleepy at that time of day, I would suggest changing their afternoon nap to be a bit later than normal, or add a later nap. At the end of the day, there’s really no guarantee that any kid will like to be in front of my lens.

Every once in a while there is a little that just does NOT want to be there, and guess what? That’s perfectly fine! I am there to get some beautiful photos of you and your babes, and I am still able to do that in the midst of meltdowns!
