As a mom I'm always looking for fun things to do. If you have school aged kiddos that are on summer vacation you're looking even morso! Here's a few things that we like to do, or would like to do in the future with our family.
First off, everyone knows about Worlds of Fun here in Kansas City, but (unpopular opinion) I HATE rollercoasters! However, I LOVE water parks, and I think that Oceans of Fun is a BLAST! It's a great way to get outside for the day, and it has things to do for all ages. Of course, if you are a rollercoaster fan, the tickets get you into both Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun.
If water parks aren't really your thing, a very popular (and free) option is going to the park. I know, I know, "really the park?" But hear me out, KC has some of the COOLEST parks! There is one called Penguin Park that has been around since my mom was a kid, and it's still super fun. There's also a splash pad/playground in Liberty. I personally love this option, because then the kids don't get too hot and can dry off while running around the playground.
Moving onto my personal favorite option, head on over to the KC Zoo! Our zoo here in Kansas City it home to some amazing animals, from a Polar Bear to Kangaroos and everything in between. Yearly passes are available, and they are discounted for Clay and Jackson county residents. They have great rides such as the merry-go-round for the littles, and the Sky Safari for the older kids. This option also allows you to bring your own food and have a picnic.
The last option I also personally love is getting Family Photos taken. This is a great option since the kiddos have more time at home and many Photographers, including myself, add some options during the week and not just on weekends. Getting those memories captured for a lifetime to come is an activity you'll never regret!
